Helpful Tip for Students

Students are NOT required to create a review account in the lower left corner of the screen to purchase cases.   Search for the cases you want to purchase, add them to your shopping cart in the rightmost column of the case detail page, and checkout when ready.  Best wishes for a great fall semester!

Highlights

We are pleased to announce two new cases that have DVD supplements -

"The Challenge of Adapting to Climate Change: King County Brings Local Action to a Global Threat" (Case 1906.0) is a public leadership case that focuses on King County, Washington's approach to addressing climate change.

There is a sequel to the case (1906.1) that follows up on a question left hanging at the end of that main case.

There is a DVD supplement (1906.9) to the case that consists of thirteen 2 to 4 minute modules that focus on the role of local government in addressing climate change.  The DVD contains interviews with key players, including Sims, and visuals of the area and of specific projects.

-

"Taking a Therapeutic Approach to Juvenile Offenders: The “Missouri Model"" (Case 1904.0) is a case that describes the unique way that the Missouri Division of Youth Services (DYS) deals with youthful offenders remanded to its custody.  The case also provides an overview of Missouri’s impressively low recidivism figures and a discussion of the challenges the Missouri DYS has faced in sustaining its highly regarded, but demanding, approach over many years.  The case can be used in classes on child welfare policy and criminal justice.

There is a 10-minute DVD companion piece (1904.9).  In this video, the director of the Missouri DYS lays out the philosophy and practice of the therapeutic process used by the department in its treatment of youth offenders. The video shows several young people as they explore the roots of their behavior and develop tools to process trauma.
